Thesis: “Introducing the Mobile Buddha”
Thanks to a tremendous outpouring of support from sangha, family, teachers, and colleagues, I have completed my thesis, capping off my MA in Art History and the Conservation of Buddhist Heritage. This is research into the agency of bronze artisans in northeastern India in the 6th and 7th centuries, exploring the artisans’ impact on the use of Buddha images. I’m grateful for everyone’s support.
This writing project is available to read and download on the Articles & Books page. I plan to make other writings from my studies available on that page, but you can also find them in previous blog posts.
Of course, there is so much more to learn and to share. So I will be offering a workshop on the thesis topic in a few months, and I will also be exploring the possibility of turning the thesis into a book.
For now, I hope that this research inspires you to think about the many people who played a role in the practice as we know it today.
