Residential Meditation Retreat co-led with Jeff Rosenberg at Sevenoaks - 8 day or 12 day options

The theme of this retreat is “Affirming Experience: Meeting our Inner and Outer Life Just as It Is”

Description: “With our thoughts, we create the world.” When living a full life of daily interactions and responsibilities, we can be swept up and swept away in a whirlwind of busyness. Feelings, body perceptions are easily lost; we lose touch. We can be separated from the immediacy of the moment. Entering a meditation retreat can allow us time to slow down, space to be with what arises and falls away, and create the conditions for calm to meet and be with life just as it is. And then, investigating the process of life unfolding, just perhaps, to meet our experience with greater ease.

Options and Practices: This retreat has two options. Retreatants can opt to complete the retreat on the 8th day, or stay on for four additional days, making it a 12-day retreat.

The first week of the retreat will focus on openness to and intimacy with experience in the body and mind, meeting that which is already here, rather than striving to create something else. Receptive to both inner and outer phenomena, we will come together to live from a place of curiosity and discovery, to cultivate our ability to be stable, compassionate observers even if our lived experience feels like a rocky and stormy ride.

Retreatants will practice mindfulness meditation in stillness and in movement. There will be opportunities to practice compassionate listening and dialogue in dyads. Retreatants will be invited to participate in practice interview groups with the teachers. Individual meetings with teachers will be available as needed.

During the second week (days 9-12), retreatants will have the opportunity to further explore experience and contributing conditions. Considering the roles of intention and memory, we will investigate the processes embedded in experience and cultivate a deeper understanding of the interactive nature of our minds and bodies.
